Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Editor,

These toilets [Lyttelton Ave, KMN, August 16] have always been pretty disgusting. It is not so much the facilities themselves, but the standard of cleaning, which I suspect is carried out by a person who has had little or no training and is not properly supervised.

[Meanwhile], your correspondence from B Begovich and the mayor regarding the mayor’s letter to the Minister for Transport asking for funding for the Transmission Gully project to be ring fenced, begs the question – why would the Porirua mayor be concerned about the progress with this project which, except for Pauatahanui and Whitby, bypasses Porirua?

For the most part, Porirua people will notice a reduction of traffic on state highway one when it is completed. I trust the council is not giving any significant funding towards this project from which residents and local businesses will receive little benefit.

CAROLE NAYLOR, Papakowhai.
