A hand with the sand
Tawa School got a taste of celebrity rugby fever ahead of the World Cup last week.
Five Wellington Lions rugby players visited the school on Tuesday to meet their fans.
It wasn’t all adulation and autographs, however – the Lions used their muscle to help fill the school’s new sandpit.
A local ITM supplied the school with timber for the sandpit, and as ITM is a national rugby competition sponsor, it organised for Dean Brunsdon, Reggie Goodes, TJ Perenara, Brad Shields and Joe Latta to do the heavy lifting.
A snowstorm prevented the players finishing the job, but many students got signed shirts as a memento of the visit.
