Former councillor dies
Former Porirua City councillor Terawhiti Arthur died on August 30 in Brisbane, Australia. Former fireman Mr Arthur represented Titahi Bay at council from 1989 to 1995. He was in his mid-50s when he died, and had six children and seven grandchildren. His Ngati Toa tangi was held yesterday at Takapuwahia marae. cut a frustrated figure last week during discussion over stormwater work for this financial year. As his colleague Liz Kelly was in full flight, condemning where different projects were placed in the priority list for the next 12 months, Cr Sheppard turned his chair 45 degrees – placing his back to Ms Kelly – and either stared fixedly at a speck on the wall or shut his eyes. Other councillors looked less-thanpleased as Ms Kelly raised arguments that had been discussed numerous times in council.
