‘Working group’ formed

The Waitangirua Community Association is no closer to getting off the ground, with a meeting last week deciding a survey of residents is needed.

This is the second meeting of the fledgling association, with neither get-together having enough prospective members turn up to form a committee.

It was hoped that a committee would eventually lead to a residents association, similar to that which neighbouring Cannons Creek has established.

Instead, a small ‘‘ working group’’ of Waitangirua residents has been formed, member Moana Tuariki says.

‘‘We’re going to get surveys made up and sent out to residents, to see what people really want. It’s back to the drawing board, really, but we hope to get plenty of different input. I think everything should work out all right.’’
