Teams finish season on high note
Tawa Association Football Club’s two 14th grade teams completed successful seasons with wins in their finals.
In the cup section the Junior Premier League side were up against Wellington College.
Up 2-nil after just 15 minutes, a big win looked possible, but their opponents had other ideas.
With minutes to go until fulltime, Tawa trailed 4-3, but Braydon Gibling spared their blushes by completing a hattrick and sending the game into extra time.
Tawa nailed two more goals to win 6-4 and finish their season on a high. They were unbeaten in the JPL with eight wins and a draw, and won every game in the Super 6 competition.
In the bowl section, the Tawa Promotional League team played Wellington United in the final, coming away 5-2 victors. Getting out to a three-goal lead, United got it back to 4-2 later, before Tawa made the game safe.
The promo team can also reflect on an excellent season, playing 15, winning 11, drawing two and losing just two.
