The Porirua basin is well-represented as the semifinals for the rugby league schools competition commence this week.

In the Stephen Kearney Cup last Thursday, Porirua College overcame Rongotai 30-18, while Bishop Viard beat St Pat’s Town 30-16.

In the College Sport Cup, for year 9 and 10 students, Aotea College defeated Naenae College 43-16.

Tawa and Mana colleges were both beaten, however, by Otaki and Wellington respectively.

This week’s SK Cup semifinals will see the two Porirua schools travel to the Hutt Valley – Porirua taking on the highly-fancied Taita on Wednesday and Bishop Viard visiting St Bernard’s a day later. Both games kick off at 4pm. In the College Sport Cup, Tawa make the tough trip to Wise Park to play Wainuiomata.
