Stabbing witnesses sought
Porirua police are investigating a stabbing which occurred in Cannons Creek late at night last Wednesday.
CIB Detective Gareth Barnes says that about 11.50pm on November 30, a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the back with a knife near the intersection of Windley St and Champion St.
‘‘As a result of the stabbing, the victim is in a stable con- dition in Wellington Hospital with internal injuries, which are not life-threatening.’’
Mr Barnes says that at the time of the attack, the victim was with a woman, described as a Maori of thin build.
‘‘We’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard this couple walking down Windley St towards Champion St . . . or anyone who has any information which may assist our investigation.’’
The victim is of Pacific Island descent, of solid build, short in height with a shaven head.
