Local talent came to the fore when Wellington took out the Lower North Island Croquet Championships in Whanganui recently.
The rep team – which featured Tom Berryman, Wayne Gair ( both Titahi Bay residents) and Graeme Fisher (of Plimmerton) – won 13 out of 16 games.
The fourth member was Anne White from the Waikanae Croquet Club.
competed against Wellington – Manawatu, Wanganui, Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay.
Fisher and White’s already successful day was capped by both of them achieving a handicap reduction.
The lawns at Plimmerton Croquet club will be open throughout the holiday period.
