Cro­quet suc­cess

Lo­cal tal­ent came to the fore when Welling­ton took out the Lower North Is­land Cro­quet Cham­pi­onships in Whanganui re­cently.

The rep team – which fea­tured Tom Ber­ry­man, Wayne Gair ( both Ti­tahi Bay res­i­dents) and Graeme Fisher (of Plim­mer­ton) – won 13 out of 16 games.

The fourth mem­ber was Anne White from the Waikanae Cro­quet Club.

Four re­gions

com­peted against Welling­ton – Manawatu, Wan­ganui, Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay.

Fisher and White’s al­ready suc­cess­ful day was capped by both of them achiev­ing a hand­i­cap re­duc­tion.

The lawns at Plim­mer­ton Cro­quet club will be open through­out the hol­i­day pe­riod.

Any­one who missed the ‘‘Give It A Go’’ day and would like to give the game a crack is wel­come to ring club cap­tain Tom Ber­ry­man on 236 8877.
