Leaky homes

City coun­cil­lors Dou­glas and Mur­rell in re­sponse to my let­ter re leaky homes (KMN, Fe­bru­ary 21) state that I am in­cor­rect.

I am in good com­pany in that the High Court (nu­mer­ous times na­tion­ally), the Ap­peal Court and the Supreme Court are, in their view, also in­cor­rect.

The fact that the re­cent judge­ment against the Porirua City Coun­cil for $390,000 re­in­forces my view that the coun­cil li­a­bil­ity is not for the 20 per cent they quote, un­less of course the coun­cil­lors can ad­vise the num­ber of set­tle­ments they have made that have been for only 20 per cent as they state.

It al­most seems that these coun­cil­lors be­lieve they are the le­gal equiv­a­lent of the Privy Coun­cil in London.

In ad­di­tion, and most tellingly, they do not even at­tempt to an­swer any of the four ques­tions con­tained in my let­ter.

I doubt that any cit­i­zen of Porirua City would give any cre­dence to any of
