Rude awakening

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Editor,

I would like to see statistics to justify Graeme Hansen’s views [KMN, February 28] that train horns are necessary.

As I am likely to be rudely awakened at 5.47am or thereabouts, I may sit at Linden Avenue crossing and count the number of people with earplugs, etc., who cannot see or hear a rumbling, ground-vibrating locomotive with flashing headlights approaching.

(It’s dark at this hour. Others are welcome to join me with photo-phones.)

Perhaps C Niven would be kind enough to supply the bureaucrat’s home phone number so that we could ring and say ‘‘good morning’’?

DIANE SCOTT, Linden
