Fancy a bit of a challenge?

Kapi-mana Bridge Club will be running their annual series of beginners’ lessons from March 19.

The Neurological Foundation’s ‘ Brain Day’ in Wellington on March 17 is very timely, says club president Ian Fowler. People are constantly reminded they need to keep learning and developing mental abilities – and bridge is an excellent mental discipline. Problem solving, anticipation, memory, ‘‘ what if’’ scenarios, are all part of a bridge player’s armoury, but you don’t have to be a mental giant to enjoy the game. Mr Fowler says bridge appeals to all ages and all skill levels.

‘‘Certainly you can be a tournament competitor if that’s your bent, but the majority are keen players who enjoy the game for the challenge and the social contact.’’

The series of 10 sessions for beginning players (or those wanting to update their bridge knowledge) are run on Monday evenings at 7.30pm from March 19. Cost $50 includes notes and 12 month membership. Contact David on 233-1866 or turn up on the night.
