Bay gala’s pot of gold
More than $26,000 was raised at the Pukerua Bay gala, which doubled as a St Patrick’s Day celebration.
Principal Mary Jones says it is an ‘‘amazing result’’.
‘‘ It’s absolutely brilliant that despite tough economic times people are still out in force, supporting our school. I feel humbled by the strength of community support we continue to experience year after year. A big thanks to our community and especially to our sponsors who helped to make it such a great day.’’
The sunny weather made the day even more enjoyable, she says, with Uncle Monkey providing musical entertainment, while the stalls and rides were humming.
The funds raised will go towards new laptops for the classrooms and other IT equipment.
Green tinge: Pukerua Bay School student Josh Gibbs celebrated his Irish ancestry at the Pukerua Bay School gala on March 17.
