The Electoral Commission and Settlement Support Porirua are running a free workshop next week on participating in New Zealand’s democratic processes.

The workshop is being lead by registrar of electors Toni Weir and will cover who is eligible to enrol, what enrolling means, when the next election is and how to vote.

‘‘Participating in local democracy is an important expression of a person’s sense of belonging within a community,’’ says Settlement Support co-ordinator Annette Woods.

The workshop, which will also give a brief overview of the MMP ( Mixed Member Proportional) Voting System, is at Cannons Creek School Hall, April 16, from 5.30pmtill 6.30pm.
