Drug ring busted open

More than 30 Po­lice staff across the Welling­ton dis­trict dis­rupted a metham­phetamine sup­ply ring last week with 16 ar­rests and more to come.

Po­lice from the Welling­ton Drug Squad, Armed Of­fend­ers Squad, the Clan Lab team, CIB and front­line staff ex­e­cuted about a dozen search war­rants in Porirua, Welling­ton and the Hutt Val­ley as part of Op­er­a­tion Mar­ian.

Welling­ton Dis­trict Or­gan­ised Crime man­ager De­tec­tive In­spec­tor Dar­rin Thom­son said seven fe­males and nine males aged be­tween 27 and 60 years were ar­rested and charged.

It is be­lieved the op­er­a­tion sup­plied hun­dreds of thou­sands of dol­lars worth of metham­phetamine across the re­gion.
