Ways to remember
There will be plenty of opportunities for Porirua and Tawa residents to observe Anzac Day tomorrow. Porirua RSA: A dawn service at their premises in Mckillop St from 6am, with a breakfast at 7am. Porirua City civic service: Held at the peace memorial in Te Rauparaha Park at 9am – if the weather is bad the service will shift indoors to Te Rauparaha Arena. Pukerua Bay: A service will be held in the school hall at 11am, before the laying of wreaths by Wellington RSAS and civil dignitaries at Whenua Tapu at noon. The Last Post and Reveille will be played. Titahi Bay: A dawn service, with those wishing to attend asked to assemble at the Titahi Bay Store on the corner of Main Rd and Dimock St at 6.20am. A civic service will begin with a march from the RSA at 10.15am, before a wreath is laid at the cenotaph in Whitehouse Rd at 10.30am.
Pauatahanui: memorial service in St Alban’s Church from 10am, with a wreath laid at the memorial next to the main road following this. Takapuwahia: A service will commence at the marae at 10.30am. Whitby: St Mary’s Church will host a commemoration from 10.30am. Tawa: A parade, which will assemble in the former Woolworths’ car park at 9.30am, will march to the Tawa RSA at 9.45am.
