Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

If something isn’t working, stop and change direction.

We have been spending more than $500,000 a year (well over that if you include sister city visits), trying to attract new businesses, investors and residents to Porirua. How successful has that been?

So successful, council has been unable to find anyone to fund their ‘think big’ city centre re-development, except ratepayers. Obviously it doesn’t stack up financially, otherwise professional property investors and financiers would be beating a path to our door. So borrow the money, and get those who love the city (existing residents), to meet the interest and repayments. Deal done.
