Accused of stabbing
A 20- year- old Whitby man has appeared in Porirua District Court charged in connection to a serious incident which left a man with stab wounds.
Detective Shane Carter of the Porirua CIB says about 6.30am on Sunday, April 29, a 21-year-old man was attacked with two 30-centimetre-long knives several times, at an address in Azimuth Place, Whitby.
‘‘The attack left the victim requiring hospital treatment for injuries to his head, neck, arms and leg. He has since been discharged.’’
Detective Carter says the 20-year-old accused appeared in the Porirua District Court on Tuesday, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded on bail with strict conditions until later this month.
‘‘Police arrived quickly at the scene, preventing any further injuries from occurring. A Taser was presented at the accused. However, it was not deployed.’’
