Beautifying group lobbies for budget

-

Keep Porirua Beautiful has asked the city council not to slash their $63,000 budget, as part of the long term plan considerations. Outgoing KPB chairperson Jeremy Andersen told councillors at LTP hearings last week that a proposed 30 per cent cut would have a huge effect on an organisation that accounted for every cent and tried to foster civic pride in Porirua. ‘‘We do not take our budget for granted, there are passionate people who are trying to make it work and create awareness in the community.’’ Mr Andersen said more than 100 people have signed up for their ‘Adopt A Spot’ campaign, they hold regular planting days and would like to be involved in the city centre revitalisation and any initiatives around Porirua Harbour.
