Night of nostalgia and jazz
Fran Barton and the Kevin Clark Group will lead a musical journey through the past at Mana Little Theatre this Friday night.
Nostalgia Ain’t What It Used To Be will feature tunes from bygone eras, brushed-off and made over with a twist.
It will feature pop, jazz and folk hits by Cilla Black, Alma Cogan, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Carole King, Joe Stafford, and instrumental hits by the Shadows, Winifred Atwell and others.
Pianist Kevin Clark, twice a Tui music award winner, has re-arranged many of the old pop tunes into a jazz setting.
‘‘ It’s surprising how some of them scrub-up,’’ says Clark, ‘‘but there are others that are a lost cause’’.
Reuben Bradley on drums and Mostyn Cole on bass complete the trio.
Revellers are assured there will be something for everyone, and dress from the 40s to the 70s is encouraged.
The show starts at 8pm. $20 admission. Bookings are essential, call 233 9357.
Looking back: Kevin Clark and Fran Barton will dust off and jazz up a multitude of classic songs at a gig this Friday.
