Caretaker ‘not a happy chappy’

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Several strong-armed thieves stole a steel bike rack from Titahi Bay School last Monday night. The rack was four metres long and half a metre wide, and would have taken two or three people to carry over the school’s locked gates, caretaker Steve Jackson said. ‘‘I’m not a happy chappy.’’ The rack held 20 bikes, and was well-used, he said. ‘‘Lots of kids bring their bikes. Sometimes it’s chock-ablock, there’s not enough room for half of the bikes.’’ Police have contacted local scrap dealers telling them to watch for the bike rack. Mr Jackson has padlocked the school’s other bike rack to a chain link fence.
