Afternoon concerts entertain
Pataka’s winter music series is in full swing, with strong audiences attending the first two concerts the season.
Music lovers hoping to escape winter’s chill still have two opportunities left to attend the series. On Sunday, July 22 primary and secondary school students from the New Zealand School of Music will take the stage. The following Sunday will feature classical two-piece Duo Tapas, featuring Wellingtonians Owen Moriarty on guitar and Rupa Maitra on violin.
The Sunday Concert Series has been running each winter since 2006, featuring four artists each year. The series was started by Friends of Pataka members looking for something to entertain them during winter weekends, organiser Meryll Evans says. All kinds of music styles have been performed.
Sunday July 22 and 29, 2pm to 3pm in Pataka’s Helen Smith Community Room. Cost: $5 or free for Friends of Pataka and under-18s.
Cold day, hot tunes: Wellington classical two-piece Duo Tapas will play at Pataka on July 29 to wrap up this year’s winter series.
