Whitby toddler cancer patient Brianna Huynen had $823 raised in her name at a bake sale on Saturday.

The sale was held at Whitby shops and cakes were donated by the community.

Brianna, 3, was diagnosed in April with a tumour on her kidney. Her parents Johnny and Bernadette have taken so much time off work to care for their daughter that they risk defaulting on their mortgage payments and losing their home.

Brianna has been operated on and has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy since April, and is classed as an intermediate risk.

A Facebook page set up to raise funds for the family has 2066 likes had has gained 66,000 views since early June, page administrator Deb Sherwin says.

Alongside the bake sale, supporters are selling entertainment books and are planning a movie fundraiser for August 30.

Money can be donated to B Huynen at ASB 12-3141-0200819-51.
