Film school pur­chase

Whi­tireia New Zealand has pur­chased The New Zealand Film and Tele­vi­sion School in Welling­ton City. The school will com­ple­ment pro­grammes in the area of arts and pro­vide an im­por­tant strate­gic ad­di­tion to the Whi­tireia arts hub with its Per­for­mance Cen­tre and Me­dia Train­ing Cen­tre, said chief ex­ec­u­tive Don Camp­bell. The Film and Tele­vi­sion School lo­ca­tion, brand and cam­pus at 86 Vi­vian St in Welling­ton City will be re­tained. Also be­ing kept is the one-year cer­tifi­cate in film and tele­vi­sion pro­duc­tion pro­gramme. ‘‘The pur­chase will pro­vide the school with in­creased sup­port and ac­cess to re­sources,’’ said the school’s trust board chair­woman, Jane Ko­minik. The Film School will continue to op­er­ate as it does cur­rently with the same course con­tent and phi­los­o­phy.
