Bus not at fault

A school bus crash at Aotea Col­lege that left 11 students injured was likely caused by driver er­ror but al­co­hol was not a fac­tor, Mana Coach Ser­vices chief ex­ec­u­tive Ge­off Nor­man said.

The bus crashed into a lamp post, a mov­ing van and the school’s sign.

Students suf­fered in­juries rang­ing from se­ri­ous bruis­ing to whiplash and chipped teeth.

The driver’s em­ploy­ment will be dis­cussed when he re­turns to work in a few weeks, Mr Nor­man said. Po­lice are not in­volved.

The driver broke his thumb in the crash.
