Facebook enables camera recovery
Social media came to the assistance of Porirua police last week.
Kapi- Mana News received a request from police following their recovery of a camera, believed to have been stolen from the Porirua or Wellington area.
The memory stick featured photographs of a family outing.
One of the photos was posted on our Facebook page in the hope one of our fans could identify the family. After 70 ‘‘shares’’ and a dozen comments, the woman in the photograph was identified by a co-worker.
The camera was soon returned to the grateful family.
Victoria Evans, senior adviser public affairs for police, said it was a great result and an example of the modern way in which a community can watch out for each other.
