True cost revealed

Despite advertising that the planned cost of the city centre revitalisation was $18.815 million, it was never intended that this sum be all that ratepayers would spend on the project.
It is now confirmed that when our council ‘‘leaders’’ say ‘‘Major project . . . total budget . . . $18.815 million’’ they intend to refer only to the amount to be capitalised to the council balance sheet and to deliberately not advertise the other $13.942m (if Moira is to be believed) which they will allocate while the project is delivered.
Clearly these highly-paid ‘‘leaders’’ fail to comprehend that if the project didn’t proceed it would be the total $32.757m that we would save, not just the $18.815m on which they have been fixated. How many other of our
