Sting results cheer police
Tighter controls are in place at Porirua bars and liquor outlets, if the results of the latest controlled purchase operation are any indication.
The operation, carried out on July 21, involved sending minors into 27 premises – 18 off-licenses, seven bars and two sports clubs – but they were rebuffed on each occasion.
Porirua police worked
with Regional Public Health, Hutt Valley District Health Board and the District Licensing Authority on the sting.
Porirua Police Alcohol harm reduction officer Senior Sergeant Steve Sargent says while they were undoubtedly pleased with the outcome, alcohol outlets need to continue the good work.
