Tawa book fair stage 3

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Tawa Rotary’s annual book fair will rise again this Saturday, 9am till 4pm.

The event, which ran over two weekends in July, received a large influx of books on the final day – enough to open the doors again at Tawa Junction, Tawa Rotary president Laura Sommer says.

More than $22,000 was raised last month for Life Education Trust, with funds also going towards water tanks and better toilet facilities at a primary school in Tonga, and student trips overseas or Outward Bound.

‘‘We’re extremely pleased with the large number of high-quality books that were donated. This, coupled with a tremendous amount of work that went on in the background from our members and others who helped us, meant we had two very well-organised weekends,’’ Ms Sommer said.

Sixty boxes of books will be donated to a library being set up in Zimbabwe to benefit 5000 children in 10 primary schools.
