Call for mailboxes

Mana MP Kris Faafoi is calling on NZ Post to listen to the 93 per cent of Aotea residents who want a mailbox in their expanding suburb. Mr Faafoi recently wrote to more than 1250 residents asking them whether or not they wanted a mailbox in their suburb. ‘‘I felt compelled to ask because of the number of Aotea residents complaining that there was nowhere close to simply post a letter. The response we got back was overwhelming, with 93 per cent of residents who replied saying yes to a mailbox.” A letter has been sent to the chief executive of NZ Post to request that a mailbox be put in the suburb as soon as possible. “It’s unfair that older suburbs get to have their mail needs met, but newer suburbs don’t,” Mr Faafoi said.
