Whitby six-year-old Connor Miller raised $323 for the SPCA through his recent cupcake-making efforts. Connor made and sold 95 icecream cone cupcakes at Whitby mall on August 18. He baked them the night before, with friend Liam helping him ice and dip the sprinkles. They sold out in an hour and he also received donations. Mum Jenny says the feedback was very positive, with members of the public impressed with Connor’s marketing and baking skills. There were even requests for the icecream cone cupcake recipe. Wellington SPCA chief inspector Ritchie Dawson told her in his 22 years with the organisation, this was the first time someone had wanted to raise money for petrol for the vans.
