Kiwi pres­i­dent vis­its

Zonta In­ter­na­tional pres­i­dent Lynn McKen­zie was guest speaker at Zonta Club of Mana’s monthly meet­ing at Plim­mer­ton Boat­ing Club re­cently.

In­stalled at Zonta In­ter­na­tional’s bi­en­nial con­fer­ence in July, Ms McKen­zie – a Welling­to­nian – was the first New Zealan­der to achieve this of­fice.

“I feel so hon­oured to be given this op­por­tu­nity,” she said.

Zonta is an in­ter­na­tional ser­vice or­gan­i­sa­tion for women ad­vo­cat­ing for their well­be­ing. Zon­tians vol­un­teer their time and tal­ents to sup­port ser­vice projects and schol­ar­ship pro­grammes.

With more than 31,000 mem­bers in 63 coun­tries, New Zealand has 27 clubs with over 800 mem­bers. The Mana cub was es­tab­lished in 1979 and en­dorses schol­ar­ships at a lo­cal, na­tional and in­ter­na­tional level, as well as sup­port­ing House of Grace, He Huarahi Ta­mariki, Women’s Refuge and Aro­hata women.
