Girls get ‘hammered’
It was a hen’s party with a difference at a Habitat for Humanity house build in Porirua recently.
Amber Batson was keen to hold a party that resulted in more than just a hangover for friend Jo Dovey, who gets married later this month.
On August 18, Ms Batson gathered a team of Jo’s friends for a day’s work at the Habitat house and they got stuck in.
It wasn’t all hard work, however, with plenty of laughs and challenges for Ms Dovey – including choosing a suitable ring from building materials on-site – although alcohol was not allowed due to health and safety requirements.
The house is in front of Bunnings Warehouse. Habitat’s resource development manager Tina Francis says it is due to be moved to its permanent address in Beauzami Cres, Ascot Park, within the month.
