Tunes for a cause
Paremata Probus Club’s Grey Warblers choir entertained members of the Whitby Women’s Institute at its recent fundraising event for Kidney Kids NZ Inc.
The Grey Warblers gather under the direction of choir mistress Hazel Dryburgh – wellknown for her musical connections and enabling others to share the enjoyment of singing together.
Members of the choir chose the songs from African-American spirituals, Broadway musicals and other favourites.
After the singing, raffles were drawn and everyone enjoyed afternoon tea with an array of taste temptations provided by the committee.
Whitby Women’s Institute raised $ 300 from the event.
Throughout New Zealand, the institute is focusing on Kidney Kids as its major project to support during 2012.
