Kapi-Mana News - - EDUCATION -

Do you dread having to speak in public? Do words fail you at that crucial moment?

A Toastmasters group is here to help you with that.

Toastmasters is an international organisation that aims to help people develop their speaking, listening and leadership skills.

The local branch, Kapi-Mana@Tawa, is a relaxed, friendly bunch of people of all ages and from a range of cultures, says member Robin Gebbie. They are holding introductory Taste of Toastmasters evenings on September 24 and October 8 at 7.30pm in the Tawa Community Centre, Cambridge Street, Tawa.

These open meetings will include regular impromptu speech sessions (known as table topics) and other lively discussions.

Whether English is your second language or you simply want to polish the way you present your case at work, Mr Gebbie says participants will find the meetings a mixture of challenge, fun and encouragement.

People are also welcome to join the regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
