EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW
Complementing its village plan, Pukerua Bay Residents’ Association has just released its own emergency plan. It will be regularly updated and has its own community response team (CRT) to act as a focal point in case of a disaster. They will act as a contact point with Porirua City Council, which will oversee any emergency that strikes the city. The plan lists risks and hazards the suburb is likely to face, the appropriate response, and contacts for the CRT. At last week’s WREMO briefing, several councillors spoke of the Pukerua Bay plan as something other residents’ associations should replicate.
