The circus has come to town with Zirka Circus pitching its tent at Takapuwahia Reserve.

The first show is tomorrow and will feature a three-storey ‘‘globe of death’’, a metal sphere encasing stunt motorbike riders, which the circus claims is the biggest in the world.

Managing director Jeni Hou says audiences will also be impressed by the agile feats of an acrobat who is also a ballet dancer, who performs on a man’s shoulders.

Zirka Circus last visited Porirua in 2011 and Hou says this is a completely new show.

‘‘It’s a contemporary show, very modern . . . A highlight is the hip hop group juggling.’’

The circus is in Porirua until January 27.

Out on a limb: The artful acrobatics of Zirka Circus return to Porirua this week.
