A new performance troupe for children is hoping a zany mix of royalty and pond life will tickle kids’ fancy these holidays.

The Pantoloons, an independent group made up of members of Porirua Little Theatre, are staging The Frog Prince at the Gryphon Theatre in Wellington this week.

A witch has put a spell on Prince Fergus and turned him into a frog. Will he have to live in a pond and eat bugs?

The only way he can become a prince again is to kiss a princess.

Zip the dragonfly buzzes in to help Fergus out and they meet the spoilt Princess Patty. But the princess doesn’t want to kiss a horrible nasty frog and Ron the Royal Frogcatcher is determined to catch Fergus.

Will Princess Patty agree to smooch Fergus? Will Ron catch Fergus and throw him into the royal dungeon?

As well as catching up with all these colourful characters, kids will get to join in and learn the Leap Frog Dance.
