Porirua’s strength at tag foot­ball is high­lighted by the num­ber of boys who will rep­re­sent­ing their re­gion at next month’s un­der-21 na­tion­als.

In Oc­to­ber, a New Zealand squad, made up of 12 play­ers from Porirua and 11 from Auck­land, played in an Ocea­nia tour­na­ment.

They won all their games but lost to Samoa in the fi­nal.

In De­cem­ber they par­tic­i­pated in the World Cup of Tag Foot­ball in Auck­land, where they again won through to the fi­nal – this time nar­rowly los­ing to Tonga.

The Porirua play­ers who rep­re­sented New Zealand will be wear­ing Welling­ton colours at the un­der-21 na­tion­als in Orewa.

They are: Kalim Kelemete (cap­tain), Caighan Moko, Elias Silia, Fareti Filo, Josiah Orr, Makapelu Neru, Karez Ti­u­malu, Matt Tanu­vasa, Mon­tqana Cooper-Finau, Siaosi Finau-Leal­i­fano, Troy Sete­fano and Zac Foase-Flutey.
