Tag squad picked
Porirua’s strength at tag football is highlighted by the number of boys who will representing their region at next month’s under-21 nationals.
In October, a New Zealand squad, made up of 12 players from Porirua and 11 from Auckland, played in an Oceania tournament.
They won all their games but lost to Samoa in the final.
In December they participated in the World Cup of Tag Football in Auckland, where they again won through to the final – this time narrowly losing to Tonga.
The Porirua players who represented New Zealand will be wearing Wellington colours at the under-21 nationals in Orewa.
They are: Kalim Kelemete (captain), Caighan Moko, Elias Silia, Fareti Filo, Josiah Orr, Makapelu Neru, Karez Tiumalu, Matt Tanuvasa, Montqana Cooper-Finau, Siaosi Finau-Lealifano, Troy Setefano and Zac Foase-Flutey.
