Fees: Have a say
Wellington Regional Council is to introduce a new fees schedule for park lease applications.
Its social and cultural wellbeing committee voted unanimously in favour of a fees schedule. The proposal will go out for public consultation.
Committee chairman Nigel Wilson said ratepayers were being forced to subsidise the private advantage of some commercial operators.
Previously complex applications have required hundreds of hours of officers’ time and the charge was a single lodgement fee of $175.
A non-notified resource consent application would require a deposit of $1610 and a notified application $5106. Officers’ time would be charged at $110 an hour. The regional council would reserve the right to waive the fees.
