Council launches free wi-fi

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Porirua’s free wi-fi service will be launched with love this Thursday, Valentines Day.

Love god Cupid will join mayor Nick Leggett at the Porirua i-SITE from noon to 2pm, handing out chocolates and roses and perhaps even helping people connect romantically over the wireless network.

The wi-fi network will piggy- back on Porirua City Council’s existing wireless networks for staff at minimal cost, Mr Leggett says.

It will provide web access for the general public to wireless devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, and will be restricted to a limit of 100MB of data each device, a day.

The network will be made available across the Porirua CBD, beginning with access from Pataka and Te Rauparaha Arena to the council building, and including parts of Hagley St, Norrie St and Cobham Ct.
