Rotary club grateful

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

The members of the Rotary Club of Porirua Sundown would like to pass on a really big thank-you to the public of our great city.

The Rotarians, with the support of the members of the local Zonta club, ran the Christmas gift wrapping stand in the Porirua Mall during the month of December.

We asked members of the public if they would make a gold coin donation for having their presents wrapped and the result was both delightful and humbling. Over $8000 has been raised to feed back into worthy causes in this community and to help out our Pacific neighbours during the next 12 months.

So, to all those people who brought their presents to the stand, a really big thank-you for giving Rotary (and Zonta) the chance to help out so many others.

The generous support of the North City Shopping Centre management team was also an important contributor to this, so thank you for that help also.

I can only hope that for both her and us, the general public, the thief develops some sort of latent conscience, and returns the work. As a photography student with a passion for this form of creativity, I feel a marked empathy for Victoria and her plight.
