Club seeks good cause

Western Bay Street Rodders is on the lookout for the next organisation, family or individual it can fundraise for.

On January 25 the club gave $4240 to the Brodie family from Titahi Bay, who they supported throughout 2012. Toddler Flynn Brodie has a rare skin disorder, pachyonychia congenita, and his frequent visits to Starship Hospital put a financial strain on his family.

Street Rodders’ president Eric van Diggele says the club has developed a ‘‘ lifetime con- nection’’ with the Brodies that will not be forgotten but they are now looking for a recipient to raise money for in 2013.

‘‘We’re hoping to get suggestions from the community and then the members will put it to a vote. We would love it to be a real local person or group, like Flynn.’’

Mr van Diggele says their fundraising efforts would not have been possible without Repco, who donated a number of items for their big charity run in late October.
