Energy-efficiency fund for schools
Hutt Mana Charitable Trust is seeking applications from primary and intermediate schools for a $25,000 energy-efficiency fund. Schools can submit project ideas that involve students, explore energy efficiency and conservation, and have specific and measurable outcomes. Projects that have educational benefits and save schools money are encouraged. Grant amounts start at $500. Applications close at 5pm on March 4. The fund is an extension of work Hutt Mana Charitable Trust already does to spread the energy-efficiency message to young people and their families in the area, says trustee Sarah Dow. Last year the trust distributed $20,000 to college leavers planning to study energy efficiency. See www.hmct.org.nz.
