Paremata-Plimmerton Rugby Club is back in full swing for the 2013 season. The club’s Senior 1’s were left gutted after going down in a heartbreaking 15-13 defeat in the Ed Chaney Cup final last year. However, the boys are back into pre-season training and are hungry for more finals action. History runs deep within the club, which was established in 1959 with the amalgamation of the Paremata and Plimmerton clubs. Old Timers Day this year is hosting a Paremata vs Plimmerton exhibition match in honour of the club’s former two entities. All are welcome to join the celebrations. With strong support from the community there is a positive, healthy rugby culture ready for any player or supporter to make their own, both on and off the field. The boys are weeks into pre-season, but, all jerseys are still up for grabs with big decisions to come from returning head coach Alphonso Parsons and his coaching team. Alongside a very strong management team the Senior 1 side has the ingredients to go all the way this year. With the first pre-season test and trial against Blenheim in mid- March, the boys should be gelled and conditioned for round 1. There are plenty of senior sides to be involved with, from the mighty reserve grade ParePlim punters to the faster, fitter 80- 80s. So for any players or supporters who have not yet found their place in Wellington club rugby or are just looking for a change in the 2013 season; find us on Facebook to see what the boys are up to. You can also contact club captain Cribby on 021 530742 or Kevin on 027 4686613, or pop in for a chat/run on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6.30pm. There will be someone from the club more than happy to point you in the right direction.
