In good shape
Porirua City United dipped out in the semi-finals of the men’s intercity softball competition on Saturday, but the team are able to reflect on a solid season.
The premier 1 side came up short against the Hutt Valley Dodgers, going down 13-8.
The week before PCU went down in the Wellington final, 8- 2 to Poneke-Kilbirnie.
‘‘They had an excellent season, going as far as they did in both competitions, and they’re competitive every time they play,’’ PCU club captain Alex Carter said.
The PCU Premier 1 women’s team, meanwhile, lost 5- 4 to Te Aroha on Saturday, missing out on a spot in the semi-finals.
Carter says along with excellent results on the field, their 25th reunion celebration and securing sponsorship, the club is in good heart.
The next focus for the men and women’s sides is their interclub tournaments, beginning in midMarch.
Winding up: Chris Hampton’s pitches couldn’t save Porirua City United from a drubbing on Saturday, with the team losing 13-8 to the Hutt Valley Dodgers.
