Inlet to give inspiration
Dust off your cameras and head for the shore – the 2013 Guardians of Pauatahanui Inlet photo competition is open for entries.
The event, now in its 13th year, is open to all ages, with special prizes for younger photographers.
‘‘ The Pauatahanui Inlet is recognised for its high ecological, aesthetic, recreational and cultural values, and our photo competition gives people the opportunity to celebrate any or all of those aspects,’’ says Guardians chairman John Wells.
Categories are Nature, Recreation and Human Impact, and a special Artistic section for those who want to use photoshop wizardry to manipulate their images.
‘‘This year we’ve again received great sponsorship from Porirua businesses and we’ve got some enticing prizes,’’ Dr Wells says.
One winner will have the chance to learn to paddle board on the inlet, while another will enjoy the thrill of the Adrenalin Forest. There are cash prizes and vouchers for a host of goods and services.
Stella Creations is a major sponsor this year, as is Harvey Norman, which has again offered to print all entries at no charge.
Kapi- Mana News will run a Readers’ Choice poll of the four main category winners through our website and print edition. Entries close on April 8. Details and entry forms can be found at Pataka and local libraries, as well as on the Guardians’ website: www. gopi. org.nz.
