An un­con­sented stormwa­ter con­nec­tion is the source of flood­ing at Maraeroa School, ac­cord­ing to Porirua City Coun­cil staff.

The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion con­nected Porirua Col­lege’s stormwa­ter pipes to the city net­work in 2008, but the coun­cil has de­nied re­ceiv­ing any con­sent ap­pli­ca­tion.

Since the con­nec­tion, there has been reg­u­lar flood­ing of nearby Maraeroa School.

Flood­ing from the city’s over­loaded pipes in Driver Cres has caused $ 180,000 dam­age to Maraeroa since 2011. There have been four floods this year alone.
