Three wise per­sons

On Au­gust, 17 three peo­ple will be­gin to con­sider the fu­ture of coun­cil rep­re­sen­ta­tion in the Welling­ton re­gion. They are the Lo­cal Govern­ment Com­mis­sion.

The chair­man is for­mer farmer and Hau­raki Dis­trict mayor Basil Mor­ri­son.

Mr Mor­ri­son is a mem­ber of the New Zealand Con­ser­va­tion Au­thor­ity and a mem­ber of the board of di­rec­tors of Landcorp Farm­ing, as well as sev­eral other boards.

Anne Carter was lo­cal govern­ment and com­mu­nity deputy sec­re­tary at the Depart­ment of In­ter­nal Af­fairs and, more re­cently, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the Pike River Royal Com­mis­sion.

Grant Kirby owns a con­sult­ing busi­ness work­ing on lo­cal govern­ment-re­lated projects. He pre­vi­ously worked for Auck­land City Coun­cil. He served as the chair­man of the Lo­cal Govern­ment Com­mis­sion and as a com­mis­sioner act­ing in place of Rod­ney Dis­trict Coun­cil.
