Council leading from the front

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

It was encouraging to read your editorial praising Porirua City Council over its stance on regional governance.

I’ve lived in Porirua for several decades and have grown increasingly proud of the progressive decisions the council has made, and of the generally positive community support it gets.

All too often a few naysayers gain most of the publicity by standing out from the crowd and criticising the council. Meanwhile, most of us are very happy with the decisions being made on our behalf. If seems blindingly obvious that regional governance in one form or another is coming to the Wellington area.

Good on our council for leading the charge, rather than standing back and doing nothing, as Kapiti and the Hutt Valley seem to be doing.

I don’t know if he is interested,
