Months of intensive rehearsal time paid dividends for the Trust Porirua City Brass at the recent New Zealand championships in New Plymouth.

The contest attracted 30 bands in four sections.

Trust Porirua was first equal with Hamilton City Brass Band in the B division, having finished second in the street march.

Since the championships, two band members, Tawa College students Ashleigh Smith-Lines and Matt Hurnen, have been chosen in the national secondary schools band.
